R(h)eingehaeckt – Episode 5

Which laws apply to IT security?
(with Mareike Gehrmann, Specialist lawyer for IT law and partner at TaylorWessing)

Attacks on critical infrastructure can paralyze society as a whole: The power supply can collapse, hospitals can be severely impaired in their work and communication and transportation networks can be brought to a standstill.

Clear legal requirements therefore apply to KRITIS companies. But what about all other companies that do not fall under the KRITIS thresholds? They are just as at risk of falling victim to a cyberattack, but there are no special IT security laws (yet).

In this podcast, we discuss why this is the case, how the legal regulation of data security and data protection came about and where the journey is heading.
